The Nigerian DJ Association has instructed its members, both locally and internationally, to refrain from playing Burna Boy’s songs after his public fight with DJ Tunez
The directive follows reports of a confrontation between the two at a party in Lagos.
A disagreement between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez escalated into a tense exchange, which reportedly drew in members of the singer’s team before the situation was eventually contained.
In response, the DJ association moved to express support for DJ Tunez, describing the incident as troubling and emphasizing the need for mutual respect within the entertainment industry.
The group stated that DJs play a key role in promoting artists and should be treated as equal stakeholders in the music ecosystem.
In its statement, the Nigerian DJ Association said:
“No one is born hating another because of the skin colour, religion, background or gender. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. ALL DJs are EQUAL. Burna Boy’s songs are hereby suspended from being played by all DJs till further notice.”
As part of its resolution, the association announced a temporary halt on Burna Boy’s songs across DJ sets, noting that the measure will remain in effect while the matter is being reviewed.
