Liverpool have confirmed the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitiké from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth up to £79 million (€91 million), including performance-based add-ons
The 23-year-old forward has signed a six-year contract with the Premier League champions and becomes one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history. Ekitiké joins after an outstanding 2024/25 season in which he scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances, earning a spot in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
Liverpool beat off strong interest from Manchester United and Newcastle, with Ekitiké reportedly convinced after a personal Zoom call with head coach Arne Slot, who outlined his tactical vision and Ekitiké’s role in the team.
Barcelona were also said to be monitoring the striker, but Liverpool moved swiftly to finalize the deal.
