At least six people have been reported killed and several others injured in the ongoing protests in Suleja, Niger State

The victims were caught in the crossfire as security operatives attempted to disperse protesters who had barricaded a section of the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Among the deceased is Yahaya Nda Isah, a resident of Hassan Dalatu Road, Suleja, who was hit by a stray bullet while riding his bike near the Suleja Police ‘A’ division.
As learnt on Daily Trust, His nephew confirmed that Isah was not participating in the protest and died instantly from a chest wound.
Another victim, identified as Mallam Abu, also died on the spot. Witnesses reported that three others were shot at the same scene, while two more were injured at the Suleja Junction on Abuja-Kaduna road. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Residents described the situation as “ugly” and “pandemonium,” with some forced to flee for their lives. The Niger State Police Command confirmed that hoodlums attempted to set the Tafa LGA ablaze but were dispersed by security operatives.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, promised to verify the details and provide a response, but had not done so at the time of filing this report.
