Olalekan Jacob Ponle, known as Mr. Woodberry and an associate of Hushpuppi, has shared a message with Nigerians on social media following his release from FBI custody for money laundering.
Woodberry was arrested in Dubai on June 10, 2020, alongside his associate Ramon “Hushpuppi” Abbas, who is currently serving an 11-year sentence for fraud. In April 2023, Woodberry pleaded guilty to internet fraud, agreeing to forfeit his luxurious Dubai assets and pay $8 million in restitution to victims.
After selling his 152 bitcoins, valued at N3.6 billion, the FBI suggested he could be released in July 2023. On August 9, 2024, Woodberry confirmed his release on Instagram, despite ongoing skepticism. He expressed his deep faith in God, stating, “God is my source; I will lack nothing.”
