I also want to be Alaafin – Oluwo of Iwo

The Oluwo of Iwoland in Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has told the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, that he also wishes to be Alaafin

The Oba disclosed this during a courtesy visit of the Alaafin of Oyo, to his palace in Iwo on Tuesday.

Oluwo, while appreciating the Alaafin for the visit, said that the monarch’s visit would boost the relationship between the two towns, Oyo and Iwo.

He said, “Henceforth, I will also want to be called Alaafin of Iwo and we will inform the government about it.”

Oluwo also said he does not know any other title in Yorubaland that is superior to the Alaafin title.

He said, “I don’t know any other title in Yorubaland that is superior to the Alaafin.

“Alaafin will continue to be Alaafin because that is the title that Oramiyan adopted and I will also adopt the saying.”

Akanbi also said that with the humility and exposure of the Alaafin, Oyo would witness peace and unprecedented development.

Earlier Owoade ,who was accompanied by his wife, Abiwumi, and other chiefs, said that he came to the town to thank the Oluwo for attending his coronation ceremony in April.
