Engineer Ifeanyi Maduagwu, father of the late Arise News journalist Somtochukwu Maduagwu, has demanded a full investigation into his daughter’s mysterious d3ath, insisting that the explanations given so far are inconsistent
Somtochukwu d!ed on September 29 after an alleged attack at her home in Katampe, Abuja.

Initial reports suggested she fell from a three-storey building while trying to escape from unidentified assailants, but her father has rejected that claim, describing it as false and illogical.
In an interview with BBC Igbo, Mr. Maduagwu said he believes his daughter was m#rdered, not that she fell while attempting to flee.
“My daughter, Sommie Tochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, would never jump from a building. I am convinced she was killed,” he said.
He described Somtochukwu as brilliant, vibrant, and terrified of heights. “If you put Sommie on a table and tell her to jump down, she won’t do it. So how could she jump from a three-storey building? That’s not true. I want the police to dig deeper — the truth is being covered up,” he added.
The grieving father also expressed frustration over the slow emergency response on the night of the incident. “I was told they called for help but none came in time. Even at the hospital, treatment was delayed because they asked for identification. It’s painful to know that such delays might have cost my daughter her life,” he lamented.
He recalled that their last conversation was about her plans for the future. “She talked about settling down soon and her desire to help change Nigeria. She even dreamed of joining politics someday,” he said.
Somtochukwu was buried on Saturday in her hometown, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, after a funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
The service drew family members, friends, colleagues, and dignitaries, including former Anambra State governor Peter Obi. In his homily, Rev. Fr. Peter Ezewuzie urged the mourners to find comfort in faith, reminding them that “the Lord who created us knows the beginning and the end.”
