Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has opened up about her relationship with fellow music heavyweight Davido, addressing recent rumours of tension and making it clear she holds no grudges
Speaking in an interview on The Breakfast Club, Tiwa clarified that despite public speculation, her connection with Davido remains grounded in respect.
“I haven’t spoken to you David but I do want you to know that I do love you and I would never betray you or like take sides,” she said.
She also confirmed that she filed a police report as a precautionary measure, not out of hostility. The singer explained that the situation stemmed from a miscommunication.
“I think it was a miscommunication,” Tiwa said. “I think out of anger maybe he might have made threats.”
While she doesn’t believe Davido intended to act on those threats, she stressed the need to protect herself.
“He might have made threats, do I think he was really going to go ahead with it? No, but again I’m not taking any risks,” she added. “You could be saying it around people who wanna now act out on what you’re saying.”
Before taking formal steps, Tiwa revealed she had tried to resolve matters quietly by reaching out to older members of Davido’s family.
“Before I did that though I reached out to members of his family, I’m not gonna say names, but people that are older than him, and I said okay I’m hearing threats can we solve this and none of them came back to me,” she explained. “Just for the record, before I do anything can we solve this?”
