Former First Lady Patience Jonathan has dismissed any possibility of returning to the presidential villa, firmly backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027
Speaking after receiving the Women Icon Leader of the Year award, Jonathan said she has no plans to seek a return to Aso Rock alongside her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“I’m not going back to the Villa. If you call me, I will not go,” she said, stressing that leadership is a turn-by-turn responsibility. “There is only one president at a time… this is turn-by-turn. Today is my turn — I will go. Tomorrow, it will be another person’s turn.”
She also pledged to join forces with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu during the upcoming campaign, describing her as a long-time friend. “I stand by my friend. I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not running,” she added.
Her comments come amid speculation that Goodluck Jonathan could make a political comeback, but her remarks appear to shut the door on that prospect.
