Thirty-two-year-old Timileyin Ajayi has been remanded in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia, the state capital, following his arrest for the murder of his alleged girlfriend, 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu

Salome, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, was killed when she visited Timileyin at his home in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Timileyin was brought to the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters from Karshi on Tuesday, where he was paraded alongside the knife and machetes used in committing the crime.
Timileyin was arrested on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s head after dismembering her body. He had ki!led her during her visit and dismembered her remains. Injured from a mob attack before his arrest, Timileyin confessed to the crime, explaining that it was not premeditated, but a result of frustrations from their troubled relationship.
When asked in an exclusive interview whether he killed Salome, Timileyin confirmed, stating that it happened because they didn’t spend enough time together. He mentioned that he had discovered her infidelity through her phone and that seeing her messages with other men led him to act out of anger. “I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time, it’s not something I planned. It happened on that day and it happened. She was cheating. She hides most of the things from me most times,” he said.
When asked if he had any regrets, Timileyin responded negatively. “I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal. If you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person. You have to understand what that person is going through so that you can actually put yourself in their position,” he explained, adding that he believed they were compatible.
Salome’s elder sister, Esther Adaidu, expressed her disbelief and sorrow, stating that the family had no prior knowledge of Timileyin and demanded justice. “This so-called Timi guy, we don’t know him. We have never seen him until we were called to be told that this guy murdered and dismembered our sister,” she said. “I demand and need justice to be served to this guy because he is the one that murdered my sister, and he confirmed it to me.”
Salome’s uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, expressed the family’s position, saying, “The position of the family is that we discovered this through the Nigerian Police and we are expecting justice from them.” He described the brutal nature of the crime, saying, “He has succeeded in destroying our daughter, not just killing her-he butchered her into pieces, over 50 parts. When you look at it, he was preparing her body for consumption by cutting it up and leaving it in about six polythene bags.”
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, assured that justice would be served, stating, “Investigation is ongoing, and once concluded, the suspect will be arraigned in court for prosecution. I want to assure the family and the public that this suspect will not be spared if found guilty. We are calling on anyone with complaints against the suspect to come forward, and it will be investigated.”
Despite rumors about Timileyin being a gospel singer, he clarified in an interview with Channels Television that he works as a cryptocurrency trader. He remains in custody at the CID of the Nasarawa State Police Command as investigations continue.
