I never had him in mind - Cosmas Maduka replies Chief Priest

Cosmas Maduka, the founder of Coscharis Group, has clarified that his earlier comments about Nigeria’s value system weren’t directed at Chief Priest, despite earlier interpretations

As seen on a WhatsApp message shared on Instagram, Maduka said he respects Cubana’s views and wishes him well, stating he had no issue with him.

The message reads: “I have just discovered also the above, even though I never met him nor attended any of his events, and if I did, I cannot remember. I never had him in mind when I said what I believed was a wrong value system we have embraced. I respect his views because he is entitled to his opinion, and I wish him the best of life. May God bless him.”

Maduka’s clarification followed a video where he criticized the culture of flaunting wealth and the phrase “money na water,” which was seen as a reference to Cubana Chief Priest, who popularized the phrase.

Cubana Chief Priest responded on Instagram, arguing that visibility and attention are the new forms of wealth in the digital age, saying Maduka’s view was outdated.

According to Cubana, while Maduka’s generation built physical assets, the present generation thrives on digital relevance, with visibility as the new currency and content as digital equity. He asked Maduka to remove himself from the list of billionaires promoting Africa’s image globally, stating “money na water” represents liquidity and opportunity attraction, not wastefulness.
