Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Wike confirmed that he owns a Rolls-Royce, insisting he bought it himself and was not gifted the luxury vehicle.

“I have a Rolls-Royce; nobody gave it to me. I bought it for myself. I didn’t come from the same background as Rotimi Amaechi. As a student, I used a Mercedes-Benz. My father managed several companies. I come from a rich background, though not as rich as the Dangotes,” he said.

Wike’s remarks were in response to allegations made by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who had accused him of corruption. But Wike dismissed the claims, turning the spotlight on Amaechi and his family instead.

He alleged that Amaechi’s wife received ₦4 billion over 12 months from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the mobilisation of Niger Delta women.

The FCT Minister also urged President Bola Tinubu to release the long-awaited forensic audit of the NDDC’s finances.

“I call on President Tinubu to release the forensic audit of the NDDC. If it’s released and her name isn’t there, I will resign as FCT Minister,” Wike declared.
