Iyabo Ojo has expressed remorse over her initial advocacy for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body, citing the lengthy and complicated burial process as the reason

Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, under contentious circumstances, was initially buried the following day, only to be exhumed by the Lagos State Police for an autopsy on September 21, 2023.
In a recent appearance on the Talk to B podcast, hosted by Biola Bayo, Iyabo Ojo revealed that her intention was to push for an autopsy to determine the true cause of Mohbad’s death.
However, the situation has taken an unexpected turn, with the autopsy being overshadowed by family disputes, particularly the demand for a DNA test on Mohbad’s son, Liam, by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba.
Iyabo Ojo admitted that she would not have supported the exhumation if she had anticipated the prolonged and contentious burial process.
“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way,” she stated. The actress explained that her primary goal was to ensure a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s death, but the family’s focus on the DNA test has complicated the matter.
“I did my best to ensure that everyone was investigated, but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them,” she added.
The family feud has been ongoing since October 2023, with Mohbad’s father insisting that the singer would not be reburied until a DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity. The prolonged delays have sparked widespread calls for a resolution to honour Mohbad’s memory, with fans and supporters growing increasingly frustrated with the situation.
