Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has opened up about his early experiences with the national team, recalling the challenges he faced during his first involvement with Nigeria’s U-23 side

In an interview with High Performance, the Super Eagles star contrasted the experience with his time in England’s youth system, highlighting the differences in organization and discipline.

“With England, it’s a bit more strict. You’re in St George’s Park National Football Centre or you’re in a hotel, no one’s allowed to come in, strict food, strict regime — that’s it,” Iwobi said, describing the structured environment he was accustomed to.

He noted that his early time with Nigeria’s U-23 team presented a different set of challenges, including logistical issues that sometimes left players to manage on their own.

“Nigeria now… sometimes your flight’s not booked properly; you have to book your own flight. You get there and sometimes the people at the airport are not ready to pick you up, so you have to make your own way,” he revealed.
