I threw my jewelry in the Lagoon – Folu Adeboye on being born again

Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, wife of RCCG General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared how committing her life to Christ brought a complete transformation to her lifestyle, even requiring her to part with things she once valued deeply

In a video posted on X, she recalled her passion for fashion before becoming born again. She had purchased gold and other jewelry for herself and her young child, who was under two years old at the time.

“Every woman loves fashion. I had already made a set of gold and all kinds of things for my child and myself before we became born again. But in Redeemed Christian Church of God, it was taboo to have earrings. So everything, I dropped it in the lagoon,” she said.

Folu explained that letting go of the items was not easy, given how much she had invested in them, but she was committed to fully embracing the principles and expectations of her faith.

She also shared that her mother’s friend had suggested giving the jewelry to her own mother to sell instead of discarding it, given its value.

“I said, whatever is not good for me, it’s not good for my mother. Only God knows how much I spent on jewellery,” she added, highlighting the depth of her sacrifice and devotion.
