Rapper, Meek Mill has announced his interest in purchasing TikTok as the app faces the threat of a ban in the United States
This development comes after President Joe Biden signed a law in April 2024 requiring TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to either sell the platform or shut it down by January 19, 2025.
In December, ByteDance appealed the law at the US Supreme Court, following a meeting between TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew and President-elect Donald Trump. Trump later expressed a “soft spot” for the app during a press conference, hinting that his administration would evaluate TikTok’s future and the possibility of a ban.
While awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision, Meek Mill has stepped forward with a bold offer to acquire the platform. Taking to X, he wrote, “Sell TikTok to me.” He also hinted at potential alternatives, stating, “If they cut off TikTok, we going X and Fanbase.”
