Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Ajorlolo has recalled the period when a group of producers in Ghana banned him from acting for two years.
According to Ajorlolo, the ban was the first of its kind and he ended up being used as a “sacrificial lamb” by the producers.
Speaking in an interview, he said:
“I was banned from acting in Ghana for 2 years by a group of producers,” he said.
He said the situation did not have the effect the producers expected because, while he was being stopped from working in Ghana, Nigerian producers were still reaching out to him and asking him to appear in their productions.
“Finally, I think they themselves went back and they realized that no, it was not worth it because as they were banning me in Ghana here, Nigerian producers too were calling, fighting for me to come perform. So it didn’t affect me”, he said.1
Ajorlolo said the ban also did not go on for the full two years. After about six to eight months, the producers reversed their decision and allowed him to return to work.
“After six months or eight months or so, they themselves just pulled that thing out that I should come back. So they used me as a sacrificial lamb. That was the first time”, he added.
