In a video shared via his official Instagram page, the 78-year-old music icon expressed gratitude to his supporters and clarified the situation.

“I thank God and all my people all over the world. I’m grateful. My children and everybody want to see me. It was during a period of rest that people began spreading rumors that I had been kidnapped. I was not kidnapped, and I didn’t kidnap myself. I thank God,” he said.

The rumors surfaced after his daughter, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, alleged on social media that her father was being held against his will by his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye. She accused them of mismanaging his career and preventing him from returning home.

In response, Dayo Adegeye dismissed the claims as baseless and malicious, affirming that King Sunny Ade is neither missing nor in any danger. Another of KSA’s sons, Emperor Adegeye, also spoke out, labeling the abduction claims as fake news and reassuring the public of their father’s wellbeing.

King Sunny Ade has since issued a statement cautioning against the spread of false information and hinted at possible legal action against those responsible for the damaging rumors.
