Rapper Ycee has spoken out about the backlash that followed his “Olodo uprising” comment, saying his message was misunderstood.
The rapper insisted he was not calling anyone an “olodo” or trying to insult anyone personally.
According to him, his comments were about what he believes is a growing culture of celebrating ignorance rather than intelligence.
“It wasn’t me calling anyone an olodo,” he explained. I was talking about how ignorance and unintelligence are being rewarded across the world. People shrinking themselves because they do not want the unintelligent to feel offended, because they are now the majority. That’s all I said”, he stated.
Ycee’s explanation comes after his earlier comments during an interview on the Afropolitan Podcast drew responses from several public figures, including streamer Peller, content creator Carter Efe and rapper Ladipoe.
His initial statement led many to believe he was directly referring to Peller and other streamers, but the rapper now says that was never his intention.
According to Ycee, his point was centered on the value of intelligence and the growing tendency to celebrate ignorance, rather than attacking any individual.
