I will never stop dancing - Gov Adeleke dismisses critics

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed criticism over his frequent dancing in public, insisting that his love for dancing has never affected his responsibilities as governor.

Speaking at the Arise Town Hall in Osogbo on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, Adeleke said his opponents were only unhappy with his dancing because they could not do the same.

The governor stressed that his public displays should not be used to judge his performance in office, noting that he remains focused and serious whenever he is carrying out official duties.

He explained that dancing is simply a hobby and that there should be a clear distinction between his personal interests and his responsibilities as governor.

He also dismissed concerns about the number of serving governors backing the APC candidate, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, describing himself as a “bulldozer” and arguing that those governors would not be voting in Osun.

On the criticism of his dancing, Adeleke said:

“Dancing is a hobby. That doesn’t disturb and affect my work. Go and check it. You will know how much I’ve done.

“They are jealous of me because they cannot dance in the first place.

“Now, when you come to my office, I’m a very prudent person. And I’m a very serious person. There’s time for everything. There’s time to dance and there’s time to work.

“Nobody, I repeat, nobody will stop me from dancing.

“If they can’t dance, I can teach them how to dance.”
