The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu and vowed to back any political figure who aligns with Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking on Thursday at the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Project in Karu, Wike praised former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and Abuja Municipal Area Council Chairman Christopher Maikalangu for delivering tangible development to residents.

He promised the construction of a 2km road in Karu at Aduda’s request and pledged to meet Maikalangu’s demands if he wins re-election in 2026.
“There is a road where you said is about 2km, is it not? Consider it done. Support those who have capacity to bring something to the people. Support those that government will listen to. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” Wike said.
He lauded Maikalangu as “very good and hardworking,” citing his role in facilitating projects such as the Saburi, Kabusa-Takushere, and Deidei roads. Wike stressed that his administration would prioritize leaders with access to government who can deliver benefits to their communities.
Highlighting Tinubu’s achievements, Wike noted that previous governments failed to provide Karu communities with potable water, a promise now fulfilled by the current administration. “We have had governments that stayed here for five years, eight years. Did they give you water? This government promised to give you water, and we have delivered,” he said.
Philip Aduda, who represented the FCT in the Senate on the PDP platform between 2011 and 2023, lost his seat in the last election. Maikalangu, formerly of the PDP, defected to the APC in 2024 and is seeking re-election as AMAC chairman in February 2026.
