Ice Prince has shared details about his time in prison

In September 2022, the Nigerian rapper and singer was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre by a Lagos State magistrate court for allegedly assaulting a police officer. He was later released after meeting his bail conditions.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Listen podcast, Ice Prince described his six-day prison stay as a horrible experience.
“Whatever story you were told is not what happened. The case is over now, so I can talk about it. I spent six days in jail. I didn’t get preferential treatment. It’s prison, so there was no preferential treatment. I’m not talking about a police cell,” he said.
He criticized public figures who exaggerate their experiences in police cells, saying, “If you’ve never been to prison, you ain’t seen anything yet. I can’t explain it. It’s a different world. I don’t pray for my worst enemy to experience it. You have to be careful out there because mistakes can take you there. There are so many innocent people in there. It wasn’t a good experience.”
Despite the challenges, Ice Prince revealed he made friends during his time in prison. “We hung out, chatted. It’s a different institution of higher learning,” he added.
Regarding the incident that led to his imprisonment, the rapper explained that he was joking with the police officer he allegedly assaulted. He claimed the situation escalated after driving off when the officer entered his car during a stop-and-search operation.
