Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has declared he would rather d!e than betray his political mentor, Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam
The governor made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing delegates at the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress in Damaturu.

“I would rather die than betray him. I remain grateful for the role he played in my political journey. I will never forget where I am coming from, and I will never turn my back on the man who trusted and supported me,” Buni said.
He emphasised that trust has been the foundation of his political career, adding, “I am a product of trust. I have never betrayed anybody. I always want to be remembered as someone who never betrays anybody.”
Buni encouraged the newly elected party officials in Yobe to stay committed to their roles and uphold trust in executing their duties.
He also highlighted his administration’s achievements over the past seven years in education, primary healthcare, empowerment, and commerce, promising that these sectors would continue to receive focus.
On succession, the governor urged APC members in the state to pray for guidance in selecting the party’s next gubernatorial candidate and to support a candidate capable of uniting members while continuing his administration’s programmes.
