Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo has charged women to take greater responsibility for their financial wellbeing, stressing that self-development and economic empowerment should be priorities regardless of marital status.
The cleric said women should intentionally build their capacity, discover their strengths and pursue opportunities that can generate income, rather than placing the burden of their entire financial lives on their spouses.
She encouraged women to value themselves enough to invest in personal growth, noting that financial independence contributes to confidence, stability and a stronger sense of purpose.
“Like yourself and invest in yourself. If the totality of your spending is based on your husband, you are a waste. Don’t let your life be based on S+xually Transmitted Money (STM),” she said.
Funke Adejumo also challenged women to make productive use of their talents, acquire relevant skills and position themselves for long-term success through wise investments and multiple streams of income.
According to her, a woman’s worth should never be determined by the opinions of others, urging women to appreciate their achievements and remain confident in their abilities.
She further warned against seeking financial benefits through immoral relationships, insisting that dignity and godly values should not be sacrificed for material gain.
“Love the Lord, serve the Lord and be passionate about God. You can’t be sleeping around with men to have money. Keep your dignity and don’t let anybody mess you up, but firmly believe in yourself.”
The preacher maintained that women who combine faith, discipline and self-improvement are better positioned to make meaningful contributions to their families, communities and society.
