Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed senior police officers to ensure the safety of participants in the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest, set for August 1 to 10, 2024.
This directive comes after human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa requested police protection for the demonstrators.
In a letter dated July 29, 2024, and signed by CP Johnson Adenola, Egbetokun instructed police leadership to accommodate Adegboruwa’s request.
Egbetokun also invited Adegboruwa to a meeting in Abuja on July 30, 2024, to discuss the matter further.
