IK Ogbonna is returning to the screen after taking some time away following the de.ath of his close friend, Alexx Ekubo.
The actor is getting back to work after what has clearly been a difficult period. Alexx was not just a colleague to IK; the two were very close friends, alongside fashion designer Yomi Casual.
In a post on his page, IK said:
“Since Alexx passed, life has felt different. It’s been a lot to process, and I know I haven’t been fully present. I believe, in different ways, we’ve all been trying to find our rhythm again. I just want to say thank you—for the patience, the understanding, and for holding things down. Now it’s time to find our feet again, get focused and get back to work. There’s a lot ahead of us, and I’m ready. Let’s go”
For IK, getting back on set comes after the loss of a friend who was a significant part of his life. His return to work marks a step back into his usual routine, even as he continues to deal with the loss.
Alexx Ekubo d!ed on May 11, 2026, aged 40. His de.ath was a major loss for those close to him, particularly friends such as IK Ogbonna and Yomi Casual, who shared a longstanding friendship with the actor.
Alexx was laid to rest following his wake-keep and funeral ceremonies, bringing an emotional chapter to a close for his family and closest friends.
