Former presidential candidate and ex‑Anambra State governor Peter Obi has addressed criticisms about his wealth, saying he is financially comfortable but prefers not to show off his assets
Speaking during a recent program, Obi stated, “I’ve never claimed to be a poor man, I’m a comfortable man. If you have $1 million, you’re a millionaire, and yes, I have that. I’m a millionaire anywhere in the world.”

He added that he owns shares in Nigerian businesses and benefits from dividends, but chooses to keep his financial dealings private. “I have shares here in Nigeria, I don’t have to flaunt that out,” Obi said, emphasizing that wealth does not need to be displayed to be real.
His remarks come as he responds to public curiosity and criticism over his economic status, highlighting that modesty and financial prudence are central to his approach to money.
