human-rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has explained why he believes he is “bigger” than Peter Obi, saying his own experience and sacrifices in the fight for democracy give him that confidence.
Speaking on MIC ON PODCAST, Adeyanju said his disagreement with Obi was not personal. He said, however, that he would always respond when he felt he had been attacked by Obi or people working with him.
“If you don’t like me and you send your aides to ins¥lt me, I will ins4lt you back. But I will not join issues with your aides. I’m bigger than his aides,” he said.
Adeyanju said he did not see himself as being below Obi simply because Obi had served as a governor. In his view, political office alone did not make someone more important than people who had taken risks for democracy.
He also stood by the things he had previously said about Obi, insisting that he was not making allegations he could not defend.
Adeyanju then questioned what he considered Obi’s personal contribution to Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
“Has he ever made any sacrifice for the country that anybody shot at him, has military arrested him? What does he know about democracy that he’s enjoying? Does he even know what democracy is?” he asked.
He went on to explain why he believes his own sacrifices put him in a different position.
“I’m bigger than him because I’ve made more sacrifices for the country. I’ve almost been k+lled more than 17 times for democracy, fighting for democracy. What has he done?” he said.
