Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama has said she’s glad she never had a son—because, in her words, he would have been a miniature version of her husband, former President Barack Obama
During a new episode of her podcast “The Light Podcast” featuring her brother Craig Robinson and radio host Angie Martinez, the trio discussed masculinity and the unique challenges of raising boys in today’s world.
“You should’ve thrown a boy in the mix,” Martinez joked, prompting Michelle to respond with a laugh, “I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy!”
When asked why she didn’t go for a third child, Obama quipped, “Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama,” drawing laughter from her guests.
Martinez playfully chimed in, “Baby Barack — it would’ve been amazing!”
But Michelle wasn’t sold on the idea. “Ooh, no, I would’ve felt for him,” she said, imagining the pressure a child would face growing up as a little Barack.
Her brother Craig added, “She just borrowed our boys,” referring to his own sons. Michelle agreed, saying, “I got plenty.”
The Obamas, who married in 1992, are parents to two daughters — Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24.
