Former Senator, Ishaku Elisha Abbo, has denied claims that he is in custody at the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja
Abbo also refuted reports linking him to the alleged r3pe of a 13-year-old secondary school pupil in June this year.

Media outlets had reported on Thursday that the embattled senator was in police custody following accusations by the mother of the alleged victim.
In a statement to journalists on Friday morning, Abbo described the allegations as “baseless, unfounded and mischievous.” He said he spent Thursday at his Abuja residence in Katampe Extension and was not at any police station.
“The said report is handiwork of my political detractors. It is an orchestrated smear campaign to disturb my peace by political enemies,” he said.
Abbo acknowledged that he had recently reported a case to the FCID involving a woman who allegedly demanded N5 million from him. He said both parties were invited for questioning, but he expressed frustration that unrelated stories had emerged weeks later.
Online speculation had claimed that the ex-lawmaker sexually assaulted a minor at his Katampe residence on June 29, 2025, and attempted to silence the family with money. The claims also alleged that Senator Aishatu Binani, 2023 Adamawa governorship candidate, intervened to dissuade the family from pursuing the case.
This controversy adds to previous scandals involving Abbo, including a widely publicized 2019 incident where he was seen assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja and earlier allegations of attempting to blackmail a married woman with an alleged sex tape.
