Recent comments by Donald Trump have reignited speculation about his interest in a third term, despite the constitutional two-term limit. In an interview with NBC News

Trump said, “I’m not joking” about the possibility, though he admitted, “It’s far too early to think about it.”
One scenario he floated involves Vice President JD Vance running for president and then stepping down to allow Trump to assume office. Legal experts, however, have dismissed this as unrealistic, pointing to the 22nd Amendment, which strictly limits presidents to two terms.
Some of Trump’s allies, including Steve Bannon, have voiced support for the idea, but any attempt to amend the Constitution would require overwhelming approval from Congress and the states—an unlikely scenario. Critics warn that such rhetoric undermines democratic norms and could destabilize U.S. governance.
