Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, expressed his readiness to align with a political coalition that seeks to unseat Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, despite being a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
He emphasized that party loyalty should not mean blind support for poor governance.
“If the government is failing the country, you don’t just go along because you’re in the same party. You know that’s not right,” he said.
Amaechi lamented the level of hardship in the country, revealing that he, too, is feeling the pinch.
“People are dying. People are starving. I myself am feeling the effects of hunger,” he added.
Amaechi’s comments come amid growing speculation about his involvement in a political coalition gearing up to challenge Tinubu in 2027. The former Rivers State governor recently celebrated his 60th birthday in Abuja, an event attended by key opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai.
During the event, the trio accused the Tinubu administration of “weaponizing poverty”, further fueling talks of a united front against the current government.
