Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo has reaffirmed his position as National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), following the reported takeover of the union’s Abuja secretariat by Tajudeen Baruwa

Baruwa had assumed control of the NURTW national secretariat, citing court rulings in his favour, a move that has intensified the leadership dispute within the union.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Oluomo described the takeover as “forceful” and emphasized that legal proceedings are still ongoing. He noted that he was not a party to the court case referenced by Baruwa, adding that the judgment has been appealed and a stay of execution has been obtained.

He also said he has avoided any interaction with Baruwa or other parties involved, stressing that the matter remains before the court and that security agencies are actively monitoring the situation.

“The National President wishes to intimate members of the union and the general public that he was not a defendant in the purported judgement. The judgment has been appealed, and a stay of execution has been duly entered. He has not engaged with Mr Baruwa or any individual, aware that cases are pending in court. The situation is under the control of security agencies. Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya remains the National President of NURTW,” the statement read.

Akinsanya urged union members to stay calm, act peacefully, and respect the law, reiterating that he continues to hold the leadership of the NURTW.
