Acclaimed Beninese-American actor Djimon Hounsou has made a shocking revelation about his experiences with financial instability and racism in the entertainment industry

Despite his illustrious two-decade-long career, marked by two Oscar nominations and numerous blockbuster films, Hounsou confessed to facing significant financial challenges.
In a candid interview on CNN’s African Voices Changemakers, Hounsou shared his struggles, saying, “I’m still struggling to make a living… I’m definitely underpaid.”
He also opened up about the racism he faced in Hollywood, recalling an incident where he was snubbed for an Oscar nomination despite being recognized for a Golden Globe.
Hounsou emphasized that systemic racism remains a pervasive issue in the industry, stating, “This conceptual idea of diversity still has a long way to go. Systemic racism won’t change like that anytime soon.”
