Liverpool kicked off their season with a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town, marking a successful start to Arne Slot’s tenure as head coach
Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah scored the goals, with Jota finishing off a well-worked move involving Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Salah netting his ninth opening-day goal, a Premier League record.
Ipswich, playing their first top-flight game in 22 years, held their own in the first half, but Liverpool improved after the break, with Jota and Salah sealing the win.
Despite Ipswich’s efforts, Liverpool’s quality shone through, condemning the hosts to their first home defeat in almost a year.
