Islamic State group claims responsibility for Moscow Concert Hall Attack

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a suspected terror attack at a Moscow concert hall, leaving at least 60 dead and over 100 injured.

Gunmen clad in camouflage attire unleashed automatic gunfire on attendees at Crocus City Hall during a performance, evoking memories of past tragedies.

The assailants, identified as three men by authorities, fled the scene following the bloodshed, triggering a nationwide manhunt. Videos captured the horrific scenes of the attack, showing gunmen firing at panicked civilians as flames engulfed the venue.

The concert, featuring the Soviet-era rock group ‘Picnic,’ was interrupted by the gunmen who indiscriminately targeted the audience. The assault bore chilling resemblance to the 2015 Bataclan attack in Paris, where scores were killed during a music event.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, evacuating survivors from the hall. President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack, vowing relentless pursuit of the perpetrators. Security measures across Moscow has been heightened, reflecting the gravity of the situation.

The complex that held the concert also includes a shopping centre and conference centre holds events such as car shows. The U.S. intelligence agencies had learned the group’s branch in Afghanistan was planning an attack in Moscow and shared the information with Russian officials.

As investigations unfold, global leaders expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, denouncing the senseless violence. Amid speculation, authorities cautioned against premature conclusions, urging cooperation in the pursuit of justice.
