Israel agrees to daily 4-hour humanitarian pauses in Gaza
Israel has agreed to begin daily four-hour humanitarian pauses in its assault on Hamas in northern Gaza as part of an effort to get hostages out, the White House announced.
Joe Biden had asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to institute the daily pauses during a phone call on Monday.
The timing of each pause will be announced three hours in advance and they will begin today, White House National Security Spokesman John Kirby confirmed.
It came as Biden said he had bleak hopes for a long-term ceasefire in Gaza and Israeli troops engaged in brutal street warfare with Hamas.
