The incident, which occurred on Monday, drew international condemnation due to the civilian casualties, including citizens from Australia, Britain, Poland, and the US-Canada.

The World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy, targeted in the airstrikes, raised concerns about the mounting civilian toll in Gaza, with at least 196 humanitarian workers killed since October, according to the United Nations.

Israeli leaders expressed regret over the misidentification of the convoy in a complex combat zone. Charity founder Jose Andres accused Israel of systematically targeting the convoy, despite being aware of their movements.

In response, Israeli government spokesperson Raquela Karamson acknowledged the incident as unintended and promised adjustments to prevent recurrence. The investigation’s findings, expected to take weeks, will guide future practices to avoid similar tragedies.

While Karamson outlined a longer timeline for the investigation, Chief Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari hinted at a quicker release of findings.
