Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, has announced that an Israeli airstrike killed Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the naval arm of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
According to Katz, the strike was carried out overnight in what he described as a “precise and lethal operation” by the Israeli military, which also eliminated several senior naval officers alongside Tangsiri.

“The man who was directly responsible for the terrorist operation of mining and blocking the Strait of Hormuz to shipping was blown up and eliminated.”
The killing is the latest in a series of high-profile attacks since the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Iran on February 28. Israeli authorities claim multiple top Iranian figures have been targeted, including Ali Khamenei and Ali Larijani.
In recent days, Israeli forces have intensified strikes on Iran’s naval capabilities. Several Iranian vessels, including missile-equipped ships, support crafts, and patrol boats, were reportedly hit in the Caspian Sea.
However, the human cost of the conflict continues to rise sharply. Iranian health authorities report that within a month of fighting, at least 1,937 people have been killed, including hundreds of women and children, while more than 24,800 others have sustained injuries.
