The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, may have quietly stepped back from his reported ambition to run in the Oyo State governorship race next year after failing to meet the March 30, 2026 resignation deadline set by Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Speculation intensified online following the circulation of what was claimed to be his resignation letter, but his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, quickly dismissed the document as fake.

Tunji maintained that the minister is still actively discharging his responsibilities and remains committed to the duties assigned to him by the president.
Over the past year, Adelabu had engaged in consultations regarding a possible governorship bid under the All Progressives Congress. However, during a recent press briefing in Abuja, he avoided giving a clear answer when asked about his political plans.
“I am fully focused on my job as the Minister of Power,” he said.
