The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced new minimum scores for students seeking admission to Nigerian universities and other higher education institutions.
This decision was made at a crucial meeting attended by leaders from various colleges and universities across the country.
For the upcoming 2024 admissions, JAMB has set different minimum scores for different types of institutions.
Students aiming to enter a university must now score at least 140 on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Those looking to attend a polytechnic or a college of education will need to achieve a minimum score of 100.
These minimum scores, officially called the “National Minimum Tolerable UTME Score” (NTMUS), are more commonly known as “cut-off marks.” They serve as a baseline for admission considerations, though individual schools may set their own cut-off marks higher depending on the competitiveness of their programs.
