Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State has emerged as the highest scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), securing an impressive 375 out of a possible 400
The announcement was made by the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2025 Policy Meeting on admissions held in Abuja on Tuesday.
Okeke, who has chosen to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), led this year’s national examination with the top score.
Coming in a close second is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who earned a score of 374. He also intends to pursue Mechanical Engineering, but at Afe Babalola University (ABUAD).
In third place is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who scored 373 and selected UNILAG as his institution of choice, also for Mechanical Engineering.
All three top-performing candidates are male and share a common academic interest, highlighting Mechanical Engineering as a popular choice among Nigeria’s brightest minds this year.
JAMB praised the students for their exceptional achievement and urged other candidates to stay focused on their academic goals.
