Jamie Lynn Spears celebrated a proud parenting milestone on Monday, announcing that her daughter, Maddie, has committed to playing softball at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The 33-year-old Zoey 101 star shared her emotions about Maddie’s big step, reflecting on her journey as a young mother.
Jamie Lynn, Britney Spears’ younger sister, recalled feeling “watched and judged” when she decided to have Maddie at just 16.
In an Instagram post featuring photos of Maddie, including one in her softball gear, Jamie Lynn expressed her pride. “All in my feels, bc my baby girl has committed to furthering her athletic & academic career at the University of Southern Miss!” she wrote.
She continued, “I can remember it like it was just yesterday, as the whole world watched and judged as I made the choice to have my baby at 16 years old. Fast forward to today, and that same little baby girl is now 16 herself, announcing that she will be going to play D1 ball for an amazing college.”
Jamie Lynn credited Maddie’s determination, resilience, and faith for her success, adding, “I feel like I can’t take much credit for anything, bc I have witnessed this kid go through, face, & overcome some impossible things by her own strong will, convictions, determination, & the sheer grace of God.”
She also shared how becoming Maddie’s mom motivated her to work hard, break generational cycles, and be a better parent.
She concluded, “Her story is a true testament to trusting God’s will & being able to achieve whatever you’re willing to work hard for, and I couldn’t be more proud of her! Love you, Maddie. GO EAGLES.”
