Singer, Jaywon has cried out on social media over the worsening insecurity in his hometown of Egbe, Kogi State, following a d8adly attack that claimed the lives of three police officers and two vigilante members
The incident occurred on September 10 when gunmen ambushed a police checkpoint in the Egbe community, located along the Kogi-Kwara border.

Two officers were killed instantly, while a third later succumbed to injuries at a local hospital. Later, the attackers targeted a vigilante post, killing two members on duty.
Reacting on social media, Jaywon condemned the attack and criticized the Nigerian Police Force and the Inspector General of Police for their silence. He wrote: “If those in uniform are not safe, what hope is left for the ordinary man? This silence is complicity. Kogi is bleeding, and all we see is camouflage. Mr. President, please do not abandon us. We deserve justice and protection.”
The Kogi State Government and local leaders have expressed deep concern over the killings. Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West, confirmed the incidents and offered condolences to the families of the victims. The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Tosin Olokun, condemned the attacks and directed herders recently migrated to the area to vacate within 24 hours, stressing the need for cooperation between security agencies and communities to prevent further violence.
Human rights activist Idris Miliki has also called for a review of community security strategies, advocating for local security committees and the establishment of state police to address growing insecurity in the region.
The tragic events have sparked protests in Egbe, with residents expressing frustration over persistent insecurity and the perceived lack of response from authorities. The community remains on edge, awaiting concrete actions from both state and federal governments to restore peace and protect lives.
