Jazzman Olofin calls out Adekunle Gold for singing hit song without consent

Veteran musician Jazzman Olofin has called out Adekunle Gold for the alleged use of his classic hit “Raise Da Roof” during a London concert

In a tongue-in-cheek post, Olofin expressed surprise and amusement at the performance, questioning why Adekunle rehearsed and performed the 22-year-old song with a full live band without obtaining permission or giving credit.

Olofin acknowledged that artistic influence and tribute are natural, but emphasized that Adekunle Gold’s actions went beyond mere homage.

He playfully hinted at his own continued relevance and openness to collaboration.

The veteran musician extended an olive branch, inviting Adekunle Gold to reach out for future collaborations.

He wrote in full: “HA!!! WETIN DEY HAPPUN FOR HERE? LOL.

I’ve got no issue with an artiste freestyling another artist’s song on stage for a second as a sign of respect. It’s cool.

BUT when you go thru a great length to actually rehearse my 22 years old monster hit song (Raise Da Roof) with your one million man live band in preparation for your show/concert in London, haba…

I may be a little too old to be singing your generation’s music, but I’m certainly not too old to spend your generation’s money.

Mr @adekunlegold, I’m very much alive and still actively preforming. Don’t beat around the bush. Next time call baba.”
