Manchester City has received confirmation from Joao Cancelo that he will depart the club this summer, with a move to Saudi Arabia now finalized
The Portugal international’s future had been uncertain since returning to the City Football Academy for pre-season training after his loan spell at FC Barcelona.
Initially, Cancelo had hoped to return to Barcelona for another season or secure a permanent transfer, but the club’s financial constraints prevented a deal from materializing.
As a result, Manchester City and Cancelo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, explored alternative opportunities, including interest from Italian clubs Inter and Juventus.
However, a new opportunity has emerged, with Cancelo set to leave European football and join Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, a €25 million package has been agreed upon, with Cancelo having already completed the initial stages of his medical and verbally agreeing to a contract until 2027.
The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming hours, with Cancelo reportedly set to earn an annual salary of €15 million net.
