Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced that he is set to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, marking a major political shift in the state.
Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday during a stakeholder meeting at the Government House, stating that the move is in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.
He revealed that he had already secured President Bola Tinubu’s approval to join the ruling party, signalling that discussions at the national level had been concluded.
Speculation about Fubara’s defection had intensified in recent weeks following his repeated visits to the President and the earlier defection of 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
