Jorge Messi, the father and longtime representative of football superstar Lionel Messi, has d!ed at the age of 68 after battling health problems, according to reports from Argentine media
His de.ath comes weeks after concerns about his health became public during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Lionel Messi had raised questions about his emotional state in June after appearing visibly moved following Argentina’s match against Algeria. After the game, the Inter Miami forward explained that his tears were unrelated to football and that he had been going through some difficult days.

This led to widespread speculation about his father’s condition, prompting the Messi family to issue a statement asking the public and media to respect Jorge’s privacy.
At the time, the family confirmed that Jorge was dealing with health issues and was receiving medical care. They also criticised the speculation surrounding his condition and appealed for discretion while he underwent treatment.

Jorge, who played a major role in managing Lionel Messi’s career and business affairs, had remained closely involved in his son’s professional journey. Reports said he had been suffering from a prolonged illness.
Lionel Messi also missed the MLS All-Star Game in late July, with reports suggesting that he travelled to Argentina to spend time with his father before returning to action for Inter Miami.

Jorge Messi reportedly d!ed on Friday night at a medical facility in Rosario, Argentina, his hometown, at the age of 68.
