Multiple regions across Nigeria experienced widespread power outages on Monday following a collapse of the national electricity grid

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) confirmed the failure in a statement shared on X, noting that the national power supply had plunged to just 50 megawatts as efforts to restore the grid got underway.
NISO, which manages electricity distribution to various power companies, revealed that as of the report, only Abuja and Ibadan were receiving 50 megawatts each, a steep drop from the 3,660 megawatts supplied on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
