The Senate on Wednesday confirmed former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence after completing his screening
The process began soon after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s request urging lawmakers to approve Musa as a replacement for Mohammed Badaru, who resigned on Monday over health concerns.

Tinubu, who forwarded Musa’s nomination to the upper chamber on Tuesday, expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen the country’s security architecture and reposition the ministry at a time insecurity remains a major national challenge.
It was earlier reported that the Senate began Musa’s screening on Wednesday following his nomination.
