President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday at the State House in Abuja, attended by top government officials.

Amupitan’s appointment follows his confirmation by the Senate last week. He succeeds Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure as INEC Chairman has ended.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu charged Professor Amupitan to uphold the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process and strengthen the commission’s institutional framework to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
